For some, photography simply creates a record of what was present. That is not what I am trying to achieve in these galleries.
I do not seek merely to document the world, but to explore how light shapes perception. Rather than providing easy answers, I hope my photographs invite questions.
Whether I succeed is open to debate. Yet I no longer believe that photography can be understood solely as an objective representation of reality. Every photograph is an interpretation—by the photographer in its making, and by the viewer in its seeing.
With this in mind, many of the galleries are organised neither chronologically nor geographically, but around ideas, themes and ways of seeing.
